Maria Kanellis and Bobby Cruise stopped by the “ROH Strong” podcast to discuss their thoughts on Rok-C becoming ROH Women’s Champion, as well as sharing some news about a future documentary.
Bobby Cruise talking about the reasons why Rok-C was chosen to be the ROH Women’s Champion:
“I will say my view of Rok was that I had a very high opinion from the very first time I saw her,” Bobby Cruise shared. “Nevermind at the time she was 19, just turned 20 now. The way she carries herself and the mind that she has, she is so smart. She’s so well spoken.”
“There have been comparisons of Rok-C to Deonna (Purrazzo) and I said, ‘I can see that.’ Well anybody can see that because they’re obvious, their wrestling style and the way that they carry themselves.”
“A lot of her being the champion, if she was going to be the champion, in my mind, she would be a perfect first champion because of the wrestler that she is. I also liked her story. Nobody could see this with Ring of Honor going on hiatus, but in my mind, and Maria and I talked about this, that with Sinclair Broadcast having all of these affiliates all over the country, what better way than Rok-C going on some of these morning shows or morning news, sitting down and doing an interview with the Women’s Championship belt at 19 or 20 years old and telling her story about taking Greyhound buses at 13 to go train and all of that.”
Maria Kanellis shares there will be a documentary coming out:
“There’s definitely some big announcements coming up here in the next few weeks. Some things I can definitely talk about like the women’s documentary,” Kanellis announced.
“The entire tournament is coming out in January. It’s going to be on Ring of Honor television. It will also be on the Youtube channel. I am incredibly proud of it. I’m so excited. It gives you an inside look of how these women are preparing for a tournament such as we had last summer, and not only that, but what led them to professional wrestling. What has made them the performer they are today?”
“People like Trish, Rok, and Miranda, talking about their stories in a real intimate way. It’s a behind the scenes relationship between me and someone like Chelsea. We’ve known each other for a long time. I was there when she became The Hot Mess. To see the transition of our relationships and their relationships with each other. The documentary is fantastic.
“I also have one other big announcement that I can’t reveal right now. Look for that in January. There is going to be a third announcement that Bobby and I will have together at some point.”
