Freddie Prinze Jr has plans to start his own wrestling company

During his latest podcast, Freddie Prinze, Jr. said he would like to start a small wrestling promotion:

“I want to start, not to make money because it won’t, and not to compete with anyone because I’m not trying to do that, but to just start a West Coast indie brand. Granted, I’m a year and a half from this coming to fruition. When I’m ready to go, I want to have a two year plan where if it makes money, cool, but it’s probably not, which is what my accountant said. I’ll try and do things the old Cornette way as far as business, like if I can find some places that actually want to play it, otherwise I’ll just play it on my Youtube channel and screw all of them. I want to start an indie wrestling league, and I don’t know if I want it to be kind of like GCW or if I want to go full comedy wrestling.”

Freddie talking about the SmackDown on Fox negotiations and Vince McMahon seemingly setting his sale price high because he has no plans to sell WWE:

“I haven’t said this before but I’ll say it now because it’s been long enough. I was talking to a dude who was interviewing to be their COO or a dude they wanted to interview. They ended up going with Nick Khan. He had passed, but he wanted to talk to me about the company. We were talking about the brand. He said, ‘Yea, they wanted us to buy the whole product.’ He was an exec at Fox. He said, ‘They wanted us to buy the whole brand, but the number they wanted wasn’t a number we were going to pay, so we licensed SmackDown instead.’

I said, ‘Were you even considering the job?’ He said, ‘No, but I just wanted to talk to you to make sure I wasn’t crazy and losing my mind.’ I said, ‘It’s a crazy place to work. You have a nice job in L.A. Your family is in L.A. Stay in L.A.’ But I knew they were going to sell a long time ago off that, and it hit me like a ton of bricks that Vince is not going to let anyone have it. That’s crazy.”

Prinze also had Macauley Culkin on and they both had a lot to say about the WWE product. Click here for more on what was said.
