On the latest “Grilling JR” podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross covered the Raw Bowl episode of Monday Night Raw from 1996.
Ross also talked about the fan reaction to him returning to AEW Dynamite:
“It was moving,” Ross said. “I’m glad that it didn’t last any longer than it did because the more I thought about the journey, and all the people who have been with me along the journey including Jan, my late wife, you start, ok, it’s time to tap out. Let’s sit your fat a** down so I don’t start crying like a baby because that’s what was going to happen. So I’m glad it was short.
Ross also praised Tony Khan. He said, “Tony Khan could have put that anywhere or nowhere. What we normally do on our shows at Dynamite, is about 7:55, the announcers are introduced, we get out there, and we do our waves. It’s always good to see the fans and the signs they have. I like to read the signs. Some of them are really creative. We’re seeing more and more of them at Dynamite and Rampage. It went short, luckily, and I had one line. I didn’t screw that up (he laughs). But it was pretty overwhelming to see people get out of their seats.”
Ross continued, “So Tony could have put me at that 7:55 mark and nobody at home would have seen it. He decided to make good ol’ JRs return a part of the creative for that night. It just so happened we started off at the very top. It was a team effort and I appreciate his consideration and thoughtfulness.”
