WWE is once again looking for fans to serve as seat fillers for the Royal Rumble later this month.
St. Louis FOX affiliate FOX 2 recently posted a story regarding this as they noted the company wants “able-bodied adults who are able to show up an hour and a half before showtime. You can even sign up with friends and family, but there is no guarantee that you will be seated together. Masks will be mandatory for the show.”
Fans who decide to be seat fillers are given free tickets but they may be required to get up and move to different sections throughout the show.
Various companies including WWE have been using seat fillers for decades to make sure that sections shown on camera are filled with fans instead of looking empty. Over the years, there have been photos posted on social media of the entire section by the hard camera being empty because that side of the arena isn’t shown. Last month, a video of someone on the WWE staff giving instructions to seat fillers before a SmackDown show was posted.
WrestleTix noted a few days ago that the Royal Rumble had sold over 26,000 tickets for a setup of 29,976. WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, and the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches are the top bouts featured on the card.
