John Cena has another movie project lined up as he will star in a new action-comedy movie with GLOW actress Alison Brie that will be directed by Pierre Morel, who has directed movies such as Taken, District 13, and Peppermint.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the stars will be featured in “Freelance,” which is set to be filmed later this month in Colombia.
The plot for the movie notes that it “focuses on an ex-special forces operator who is desperate to escape his humdrum life when he takes a job providing security to a journalist who is hoping to salvage her career by interviewing a dictator. A military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview and the mismatched duo, along with the dictator, escape to the jungle where they must survive the military chasing them, animals hunting them, and each other.”
Cena will star as the ex-soldier and Brie will play the journalist. The script is written by Jacob Lentz.
Brie previously starred as Ruth Wilder in the Netflix series based on the GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) promotion. Cena’s “Peacemaker” HBO Max series just premiered this week.
