WWE bringing back more WCW pay-per-view names for NXT 2.0?

WWE has locked down the trademark rights to more past WCW pay-per-view events. The company did so on January 19 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This filing was for entertainment purposes. The terms were Superbrawl and Uncensored. Here is the description:

“Entertainment services, namely, ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production of professional wrestling events and organizing exhibitions of professional wrestling events for entertainment purposes, all rendered through broadcast media, namely, television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media, namely, television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing sports and entertainment information through broadcast media, namely, television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website featuring sports entertainment information.”

When Vince McMahon bought WCW in 2001, he was able to obtain various WCW related things such as trademarks, rings, and the tape library. WCW held Superbrawl from 1991-2001 and Uncensored from 1995-2000.

WWE has used past WCW themes for NXT such as WarGames, The Great American Bash, and Halloween Havoc. Although it’s not confirmed these latest trademarks will be used for future NXT specials, it’s something to keep an eye on.
