It was confirmed earlier this month that Sami Zayn has signed a new contract with WWE and is locked down for several more years.
During an appearance on “les Anti-Pods de la Lutte” with Pat Laprade and Kevin Raphael, Zayn commented on his decision, which wasn’t complicated for him as he wanted to stay with the company.
“Yes, it’s true. Honestly, I don’t know how people on the internet find this kind of information, but yes, it’s true, I just signed for a few years and I’m really happy. My contract was almost over, they were interested in me staying, I wanted to stay, so it was no more complicated than that.”
He noted that he’s happy with his role in the company in the last few years and he thinks he’s doing the best job character-wise of his career right now.
“I don’t know why people were really surprised. They have an idea in their heads that everyone in WWE is unhappy being there, unhappy with their role, that they want more or feel oppressed, or I don’t know what. For me, I’m really happy with my role and I can’t wait to see what I’m going to be able to do in the next few years.”
Zayn is just like the rest of the locker room as he isn’t 100 percent satisfied and does want more. He said that he’s happy to stay with WWE and feels the company has confidence in him. He’s also really happy that he gets to do a lot of talking segments as not everyone gets to do them.
Zayn, who will be one of the entrants in the men’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday, has been feuding with Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Title as of late. While Zayn is the number one contender to the title, WWE has yet to confirm when the match will take place.
