WWE doesn’t want Jeff Hardy in AEW

As noted earlier, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE’s John Laurinaitis called Jeff Hardy a few weeks ago.

Laurinaitis asked if Hardy would be interested in returning to the company and an offer was made to induct him into the 2022 Hall Of Fame. Hardy turned the offer down.

Meltzer noted that there is a feeling right now that Jeff is the one guy that they don’t want in AEW because of the realization that the Hardy Boys will be revitalized with so many top teams available to work with (Young Bucks, FTR, Santana and Ortiz, Penta El Zero Miedo and Fenix, and others).

If Hardy were to sign with AEW then he can’t show up there until March because his WWE non-compete doesn’t expire until March 9. Meltzer also reported that unless Jeff changes his mind and goes back to WWE, which doesn’t look likely, the belief is that he will be going to AEW to team with his brother.

Both Matt and Jeff have stated publicly that they would like one more run together. For what it’s worth, Matt did reference his brother but not by name this week on AEW Dynamite.
