There was a mistimed spot at the WWE Royal Rumble that led to an early elimination.
Many of you probably figured out already that the Kofi Kingston spot on the barricade was not supposed to lead to his exit from the Rumble match. For those of you that missed it, Kingston was knocked out of the ring by Kevin Owens but Kingston leaped to the barricade and held on. The plan was that he was supposed to narrowly escape elimination.
Bryan Alvarez confirmed on Twitter that Kingston was supposed to get back in the match because there were spots planned with Big E later on in the match. Since both of his feet legitimately touched the floor, the referees did what they are trained to do and they called it as a shoot and they informed Kingston that he was eliminated.
You can see the spot embedded in the clip below and you can also see the referee tell Kingston that he’s out of the match.
Kofi's big spot was mistimed and he was legitimately eliminated when he wasn't supposed to be, there were spots planned later with Big E out there
