Nia Jax on her WWE exit, not getting vaccinated: “I was choosing not to go and get the vaccine. It was a personal choice”

Nia Jax appeared on “The Sessions” with Renee Paquette to discuss coming back after surgery, as well as not getting the COVID vaccine.

Nia Jax talking about coming back after her surgery:

“I had left and had the surgeries, right? Like, I had my double ACL surgery,” Jax said.

“Then I was sitting at home waiting to come back, but they’re like, Oh, we’re not going to use you. But then COVID hit and it just kind of set the tone for the whole year.”

“I was laying in bed and I got a call and this is when we’re filming at the PC. ‘You’re needed. You’re filming your return in like two hours.’ I was like, wait, what and I’m sitting there and like, I was texting Paul Heyman because at the time he was running stuff, I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ Whatever.”

“I came back and the energy was just different,” she said. “You know, obviously, we’re trying to work through a pandemic, everybody is scared, and nobody seems happy. It was just a weird, tense feeling. We were there at the PC, and just like trying to make the best of it, and like something was in the air. It just didn’t feel the same.”

“There was a change in the guard in the company on the corporate side, and things just started shifting to where it didn’t seem like what it used to be. We used to kind of have a family like camaraderie, you know, like all get together and have a good time, and something shifted.”

“That’s when I think a lot of people we’re just sort of like, what’s up, and then we had those massive cuts, like cut after cut after cut. They were budget cuts and what not. Nothing was making sense,” Jax said.

“So like, the whole last year, it just felt like I was in a dryer, like I was being tumbled in like different directions. I just couldn’t get settled. I remember I walked into Johnny’s office after just like a crazy couple of weeks, like in wrestling, and I was like, ‘You know what? I need a break. Like, something’s off. I don’t feel right. I need a break.’ He gave it to me. He was like, ‘Yeah, of course, go ahead and take the break.’ When I was in the break, I sh*t you not, I did not miss it.”

Nia on not getting the COVID vaccine:

“I stood my ground on certain things that I know that they weren’t happy about. I was choosing not to go and get the vaccine. It was a personal choice,” Nia said.

“I remember sitting down with Vince because the entire two years I was there, we were tested every day, and I never popped positive. I never had COVID the whole time. It was like, ‘Well, kid, you’re not going to be able to fulfill some of your contractual duties’. I was like, ‘Well, if that’s the case, then that’s the case.’ Like, it’s a business, and I understand you got to run your business.”

“But that’s when I was like, you know, I feel really good because of the decision for myself. I stood by how I felt. I always go by my gut feeling. If it doesn’t feel right in my stomach. I just can’t force myself to do something I don’t feel good with. That’s just how I’ve lived my entire life.”

Other topics discussed during the episode include Nia’s infamous punch to Becky Lynch, as well as being asked to return for this year’s Royal Rumble.
