For the first time ever, WWE footage aired on tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV.
Tom Hannifan (former WWE announcer Tom Phillips) recapped Mickie James’ entry into the Royal Rumble on Saturday night, including the spot where she eliminated Michelle McCool before she was eliminated by Lita.
The footage was used with permission from WWE and its part of the deal worked out between both promotions that allowed James to enter the Rumble with her Impact Knockouts Championship. James said the deal was worked out a few weeks before the Rumble after WWE reached out to Scott D’Amore.
James has expressed interest in doing more with WWE while continuing to work for Impact but, as of now, it looks like this was a one-and-done situation and there are no signs that the WWE-Impact working relationship will continue beyond this week. WWE has worked with Impact in the past to get permission to use their footage on the WWE Network so there is always the possibility that they can work together again in the future.
