There is a lot of buzz heading into tonight’s AEW Dynamite because they are putting on another stacked show along with the surprise planned. The widespread belief is that the person (or persons) debuting tonight have previously worked for WWE.
As previously noted, Tony Khan said that tonight’s surprise will sign a contract and will debut in a match against Isiah Kassidy. Based on interviews given to Busted Open Radio and PWInsider, it seems as if Khan has something else planned for the show.
Khan told PWI that tonight’s surprise is “going to be a major signing for us and I think it’s going to be a very exciting night” and he is hoping that this person meets the fan expectations. Khan added, “And frankly, I’ve seen a lot of other speculations and there’s a lot of great names out there. And anything we do on this particular Wednesday night Dynamite, it doesn’t limit us in the future from finding some of these other people.”
In response to being asked if there might be more than one new talent debuting tonight, Khan said the following: “I don’t want to get too specific to say exactly what’s going to happen, but it’s going to be a great night for the fans and I promise there’s definitely one surprise, and I think there’ll be some other really fun stuff along the way too.”
Khan also talked about not wanting to let people down like when Vince McMahon was revealed to be the Higher Power in 1999 and he hinted at more talent joining the company after tonight. Khan said, “I definitely want people to back different names around and then hopefully a lot of people are going to be very happy with what they get on this show and if there’s more people the fans are calling for them, that the fans want to see, hopefully we can get them in AEW too.”
