Lita sat down with Denise Salcedo this week to talk about her Royal Rumble return and what winning the Raw Women’s title would mean to her.
Lita talking about being called to be in The Royal Rumble:
“Johnny (Laurinaitis) called me and said, ‘Do you want to do The Royal Rumble?’ I already, just for fun, been training and jumping at the opportunity to do that,” she said.
“It just made sense to keep my training going. Then when they announced me ahead of things, the reaction from the fans and the support from the fans have been amazing at squashing any doubts or anxiety that I can do this in my head. I didn’t realize I needed that or that I reacted so strongly to that.”
“I consider myself like, ‘I know what I want. I know what I need. I’ll go after that’, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not scary sometimes or that I don’t have doubts. The way the fans were like, ‘You can do this. Five time champion.’ I was like, ‘I can do this. Five time champion.’ They’ve just been paramount with my confidence.”
Lita was asked what winning the RAW Women’s Title at Elimination Chamber would mean to her legacy:
“It’s weird because I try not to get ahead of myself. You go in, give it 100%, and that’s what you need to focus on. But, I don’t know. It feels like this is what’s supposed to happen. It feels like it would be a pretty nice cherry on top of my career, and maybe not even a cherry. Maybe it’s like, ‘Maybe I’ll order another sundae.’”
