Jeff Hardy on declining the WWE Hall of Fame: “I don’t want to go in there without my brother and it’s not my time.”

The Hardy Boys were guests on this week’s “Talk Is Jericho” where they discussed arriving in AEW, using their WWE theme music, Hall of Fame offers, and working with Darby Allin.

Matt Hardy talking about Jeff Hardy coming to AEW:

“I feel like both of us wanted to end our career on a high note, and we wanted to both go out the same way as we came in, as a team together. We also felt AEW is the perfect place with Tony Khan and all the people from top to bottom,” Matt said.

“He treats legends and veterans, guys who have done a lot of successful things in the business, in the proper way. He utilizes them and he really optimizes their usage. So I knew if Jeff came here, it would really be a great opportunity to really try and cement ourselves as one of the best tag teams ever.”

Matt talking about being able to use their WWE music in AEW:

“It was in the Warner media library. It is a song that is just licensed and they didn’t lock it down. You can hear it in commercials and stuff. I knew we had that in our back pocket,” he said.

Jeff on WWE offering him to be be in the WWE Hall of Fame:

“Well, first of all, I don’t want to go in there without my brother and it’s not my time. This is too early. This is crazy. So yeah, it was very emotional. I was like, ‘What are they trying to do because naturally, I’m going to be reunited with my brother in AEW when I’m free of WWE.'”

Jeff continued, “I told my wife what had happened. I said, ‘I can’t believe what they just offered me.’ So it was very emotional, but I happily declined it.”

Jeff talking about working with Darby Allin:

“That match was so fun for me. That’s my comfort zone, that style of match, other than the regular pro wrestling match, so I was just so excited. After it was over, the adrenaline wore off and I was sore. The next day he texted me and said, ‘Hey, man, how are you doing? You good?’ I said, ‘I’m a little sore. It’s not too bad’, but I was hurting pretty bad. I said, ‘How about you?’ He said, ‘Surprisingly, I don’t feel anything.’
