Cesaro’s future in pro wrestling is still up in the air

Cesaro is still one of the top free agents in wrestling after he departed from WWE earlier this year as the two sides had been in talks about a new deal, but couldn’t come to an agreement on terms.

The former WWE star previously filed a trademark for his new ring name, “Claudio CSRO.” Although several independent promoters have reached out to try and book him, nobody has been able to reach a deal for his first post-WWE match or even appearance.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cesaro has taken time off for family reasons with a young child. Although AEW President Tony Khan has spoken highly of the former WWE star, it’s still unclear whether AEW made an offer for him up to this point.

Meltzer wrote, “with the size of some of the new contracts WWE has given, there is the feeling a guy like Cesaro, in his early 40s, will return because he’s comfortable with WWE even though he recognizes he’ll never be used on top, but there’s nothing definite in that direction.”

Meltzer stated the only thing he’s heard is that Cesaro has been in talks with Conrad Thompson about doing Starrcast next month. According to those close to Cesaro, he has at least considered other projects that he wouldn’t be allowed to do if he returned to WWE.
