Will Ospreay received a massive offer from another promotion before signing with AEW

Will Ospreay had to make a big decision ahead of early 2024 when his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling came due. He had interest from plenty of promotions expected to bid for his services, including WWE, AEW, and Impact Wrestling.

The lead-up

Ospreay had reportedly informed New Japan Pro Westling that he wasn’t going to re-sign with them after spending years there, where he found a ton of success. In the end at Full Gear earlier this month, Ospreay announced that he had signed a multi-year deal with AEW.

This was a big get for All Elite Wrestling, considering they were competing against WWE and other promotions for Ospreay. It was also months after Jade Cargill left AEW for WWE.

The offer

Pwinsider reports that they were told Impact Wrestling was very much in the running to land Ospreay, and the promotion made him a “fantastic, massive offer.” The Impact source said it was likely the largest offer to one person since Anthem took over ownership of the company and was a “seven-figure level offer.”

Following Bound for Glory weekend in Chicago, where he had a great time, several people assumed he was coming in full-time, especially after he stated he wanted to compete in a TNA ring ahead of when the promotion is slated to be rebranded in January.
