AEW star files trademark for ring name

Killswitch, aka Luchasaurus, real name Austin Matelson, has locked down his ring name.

The name

The AEW wrestler had attorney Michael Dockins file the trademark with the USPTO for the purposes of entertainment and merchandise services on November 25. Here is the description:

“Mark For: KILLSWITCH™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of hats; Shirts; Bandanas; Shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts.”

After breaking into the business in 20009 and having a run in WWE from 2012 through 2014 under the Judas Devlin name, he worked on the independent scene, including a run in Lucha Underground from 2016 to 2019 as Vibora. He later signed with AEW in 2019, where he was part of Jurassic Express with Jack Perry and Marko Stunt.

Recent success

He turned heel on Jungle Boy and was paired with Christian Cage in 2022. This past June, on the premiere episode of Collision, Luchasaurus defeated Wardlow to win the TNT Championship before losing it to Cage in a triple threat match that included Darby Allin.

On the November 22 episode of Dynamite, Cage renamed him Killswitch, which is the same name as Cage’s finisher.
