Jake Roberts says he once wrestled in front of 12 people inside a cockfighting compound in a department store

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall interviewed WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts who currently works for AEW as the manager for Lance Archer and The Righteous.

Sting is retiring at AEW Revolution 2024. He and Roberts have some history from their short program in WCW in 1992. Roberts gave his thoughts on Sting’s retirement.

“He stretched it out for a long time,” Roberts said. “He’s got more miles in than I did. There comes a time when you know it’s time and I think he knows what he’s doing. He’s weathered a lot of storms and I think he’s come to that place where he feels comfortable getting away from it. If he feels like it, it’s up to him.”

Roberts was asked about the strangest place he’s wrestled in and he revealed that he once wrestled in a department store in Japan. Roberts said, “On top of a department store in Tokyo. We were about 25 floors up so it was pretty odd and what makes it even crazier is there were only like 12 people there for a whole wrestling show. Then at the end of it, I found out that the owner of the building had requested a show for himself and his family so he paid for it. I’ve got one more. It was a cockfighting compound. Literally, whenever you came up on this place, it was out in the sticks, down in the hollow, and when you came up on it, there was a large crow’s nest with automatic weapons. It was well guarded.”
