WWE held two NXT live events this weekend on Friday night in Lakeland, FL, and Orlando, FL, on Saturday night, where there was an interesting name in action on both shows.
WWE Raw star Xia Li was in action on the shows, returning to her roots. Li signed with WWE in 2017, where she worked the Mae Young Classic tournament that year and in 2018. Li worked the women’s Royal Rumble match in 2019 before making her NXT TV debut a few months later.
In November 2020, she was featured in a vignette with Boa, where they were paired with a mysterious woman who was Mei Ying (the now Wendy Choo). They finished the feud at the In Your House event with Mercedes Martinez before Li was drafted to SmackDown in October in 2021, separating her from Boa and Ying. Li was moved to WWE Raw as part of the 2023 Draft.
At Friday’s NXT house show, Li lost to NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria, and on Saturday, she teamed with Kiana James to beat Karmen Petrovic & Valkyria.
This comes after she confronted Valkyria on this past Tuesday’s NXT, noting she wanted the Women’s Title.
