Triple H has approved the design of a new World Title belt ahead of Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
As WrestlingNews.co exclusively reported months ago, WWE has been looking to split up the Undisputed WWE Universal Title as original plans called for the WWE Title to be defended on night 1 of WrestleMania 39. Reigns was crowned the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after beating then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 while being the Universal Champion.
WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport that a new title belt has been created and is waiting to debut soon.
“There’s a new belt. I don’t know for sure if it’s getting a new name. I don’t know if one of the titles is going away, but there’s a new belt that WWE has made and the decision-makers have approved. Like, if they wanted to introduce it on TV tomorrow, they could. Those boxes are checked.”
As of this writing, it’s unclear when the new title belt will be introduced, but it’s likely after WrestleMania.
Rhodes has publicly pushed for WWE to bring back the Winged Eagle Belt. Perhaps this new design will be similar to it.
BeltFanDan tweeted out the following:
Since I'm being asked:
I haven't heard anything recent about a new WWE belt.
Early 2022 I heard the Big Gold was pitched as Universal replacement. + Vince wanted a new unified belt for WM 40.
I haven't heard anything in a very long time but could be I'm out of the loop.
