KAIRI on her concussion at WWE TLC, why she left WWE, the door is open for WWE return

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former IWGP Women’s Champion/former WWE star KAIRI, via her interpreter. Here are some transcribed highlights. Scroll down to watch the entire interview.

On being a member of the Kabuki Warriors in WWE:

“The team with Asuka, The Kabuki Warriors, was really a special moment. It felt like a dream for her. Backstage, they were always super close. They were always talking about wrestling together. But yea, it was really special for KAIRI to have that tag team with Asuka.”

On her pirate gimmick in WWE:

“On her debut match way back when, she brought a pirate hat and a sword because before wrestling, she used to do sailing. She was also a representative for Japan. She lived around the sea, so she wanted to bring part of herself into her wrestling persona.”

On her concussion at WWE TLC:

“When the bell rang, they went outside the ring and the chair hit her right in the head full force by accident. It was kind of messy but she was fine for a while and five minutes passed, and after a while she realized ‘why are there so many fans, why do I see multiple TLC signs? I think I’m having a concussion, not feeling so well.’ She told Asuka what to do, thankfully Asuka brought her through along the math and the match thankfully ended…”

On the reason she cut back her schedule at WWE after concussion symptoms went away:

“She actually was in perfect condition. She was perfectly fine, but the reason why she cut back is because she got married.”

On possibly coming back for a Royal Rumble appearance:

“It’s her favorite PPV of the whole year so she definitely wants to wrestle one day in the Royal Rumble.”

On if the door is open for a WWE return:

“Vince said the door is always open, you’re always welcome to come back. If she comes back one day, she will team up with Asuka again, team up with IYO SKY or maybe against IYO SKY, who knows?”
