KAIRI says she wanted to hold the IWGP Women’s Title longer, would love to get another shot at Mercedes Mone

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former IWGP Women’s Champion/former WWE star KAIRI, via her interpreter. Here are some transcribed highlights. Scroll down to watch the entire interview.

KAIRI on becoming the first IWGP Women’s Champion:

(Through an interpreter): “She’s been wrestling for 10 or 11 years now. She’s been wrestling at Stardom. She won so many belts there. She went to NXT and WWE and won many belts there. She won the belts as Kabuki Warriors. She’s very honored to be the very first IWGP Women’s Champion.”

Her thoughts on Mercedes Mone showing up at WrestleKingdom 17 and challenging her to a match:

“She was feeling goosebumps when she saw Mercedes Mone. First of all, to be able to have a match against Mercedes Mone for the IWGP Women’s belt was very monumental. Mercedes Mone is a very close friend on screen and off screen. She respects Mone as a wrestler and as a woman.”

On losing the IWGP Women’s Championship to Mercedes Mone:

“Her dream was to hold the belt longer, travel with the belt, go all around the world, get many, many title defenses and raise the belt’s prestige and make it more famous, but unfortunately it didn’t happen, but there’s always a second chance that she would love to get another shot at the belt once again.”
