Kevin Von Erich: Ross and Marshall’s MLW contracts expire soon, I would like to see them in AEW

On the latest Pro Wrestling Spotlight podcast at Patreon.com/JohnArezzi, Kevin Von Erich was interviewed by John Arezzi on the 30th anniversary of the passing of Kevin’s brother Kerry Von Erich. The interview will be posted for free this coming Thursday on every major podcast app.

Arezzi said he didn’t want to dwell too much on the family tragedies but Kevin said that he has no issue talking about it because he is happy and at peace.

“I didn’t know it had been 30 years,” Kevin said. “For me, it seemed like maybe 10. 30 years, that sounds right. Kerry was a great guy…I’m a Christian and raise my family this way. And I’m not afraid of death. That’s just kind of the difference in a Christian I suppose and other people, I’m kind of looking forward to being in heaven to tell you the truth. But it’s not that I want to die. I love life. I love my family. I love everything but death is not something scary for me at all. That’s a great day, but today is the day and to do your best every day. And that’s life. That’s what’s good and fun. I’m so happy right now, I’ve never been this way. So peaceful and happy. I’ve got all my kids, my children around and grandchildren… That’s a blessing, man. That’s as good as life gets. If I could pass that along to your listeners. If I could do one positive thing from the suffering I’ve gone through in my life, let me tell you, there is no joy than love and children, love and marriage and being a man taking the hard stuff, so your family doesn’t have to go through it. You know? Yeah, it’s hard. Life is hard. But we’re men, you know, we do what’s hard, we pay the price so the women and children don’t have to, and it’s a beautiful life like that. Like I said, on the Dark Side of the Ring video, dinner with children, being home telling stories with each other, that’s the good, that’s the good stuff. The small stuff.

Kevin Von Erich’s thoughts on WWE and his sons possibly working for AEW:

“I love the WWE but also AEW. I watch AEW and I love the direction they’re going. I believe [Tony Khan is] on the right track. I really have a good feeling about that. I’d like to see my sons there.”

On his sons Marshall and Ross’ contracts MLW contracts and their future:

“I brought them up rough, you know, I knew what it was like in Japan for the young boys and so I sent him over there because if you want to grow a tree strong, you let the wind blow on it, you let the rocks and the dust hit it. I mean, it’s the outside forces of nature that grow that tree with strong bark. I wanted them to be hit rough. And the way I train them is my style. You really can’t see that when they’re getting chopped going into the ring every week…when you put them in the ring was solid men that did what I did, you’re gonna show what they’ve been trained to do with us. They’ve signed their contracts (with MLW) and they’re stuck, but their contracts are almost over. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next chapter is gonna be like…”
