Gunther on Brock Lesnar: “I really hope the match goes down at some point”

Gunther has continued to push for a match with Brock Lesnar at some point in WWE. It almost happened at WWE WrestleMania 39 this April, as WWE had plans for it as recently as December.

The bout made sense as the Intercontinental Champion is a worthy challenger and real test in storyline for Lesnar. Gunther has stated that he thinks it would present the biggest possible challenge for him. WWE teased a showdown between the two stars in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match.

As previously reported, plans for Gunther vs. Lesnar have been nixed for WrestleMania as WWE is going in a different direction.

While speaking on the Rob Brown Show, Gunther was asked about the Rumble encounter with the former WWE Champion.

“Of course, I wanted to. Brock is a one in a million guy, one in ten million. I always liked those guys that have stood out from the pack.”

Gunther brought up how he got back into wrestling when he was training to become a wrestler and Brock was his favorite to watch.

“I always loved his matches and was very impressed with that and also with the recent years in WWE. I always thought it would a be thing for wrestling and my style, that’s my end boss. I’ve been portrayed as the end boss in wrestling for a lot of guys, but I think Brock could be my end boss. I really hope the match goes down at some point.
