The Winged Eagle WWE Championship may be returning, if Cody Rhodes gets his way.
Cody posted a photo of the belt on his Instagram account. This isn’t the first time he’s talked about bringing back that title. After his WWE return last year, Cody stated that he wanted to bring that belt back and he wanted to win it because it’s something that his dad was unable to do. Cody also discussed his father and Roman Reigns during the Royal Rumble post-show press conference. Scroll down on this page to watch the video.
In December, WrestlingNews.co exclusively reported about plans to have two World Titles again. Roman Reigns currently holds the Universal and WWE Championship but we were told that the company wants each brand to have its own major title after WrestleMania.
Plans may change but these two matches were scheduled as of a few weeks ago:
Night 1
WWE Championship
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre or Cody Rhodes
Night 2
Roman Reigns vs. TBD. If The Rock can’t do the show then the plan is for Cody Rhodes to take the spot
Since it’s looking unlikely that The Rock will be wrestling at WrestleMania, it’s looking more like Cody vs. Roman Reigns for one of the belts. Again, plans can still change.
