As NJPW’s top champion, Jon Moxley will have a notable match at the upcoming AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event when the show takes place on Sunday, June 30, from UBS Arena at Belmont Park in New York.
The original expected location for the event was Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, but that was nixed. All Elite Wrestling is still expected to hold its annual Dynamite show at the venue. It’s unclear when that show will take place.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted there has been talk of a Moxley IWGP Heavyweight Title defense against Tetsuya Naito at the show. Meltzer said, “I think there was some talk of Naito at Forbidden Door.”
Moxley will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Title against EVIL at NJPW Dominion. Also, there’s speculation he could put the title on the line against AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita in the near future.
