Kevin Owens and Randy Orton have formed an alliance on WWE television in recent months.
They first teamed together on the March 8th episode of SmackDown when they beat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. They later put over Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) on the March 29th episode of SmackDown as part of their feud with Logan Paul, which led to them working a triple threat match where Paul retained the United States Title at WrestleMania XL.
Owens and Orton will team up yet again at today’s WWE Backlash France premium live event from the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Decines. This time, they will take on Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga. This marks Tonga’s WWE PLE in-ring debut.
WWE Stats noted on Twitter that Owens is slated to make history at the show. He will be the first Superstar in history to both partner with Orton in a regular tag team match (2-on-2) and also face him in a regular tag team match at a PLE/PPV. This excludes multi-man tag team matches such as six-man tags and Survivor Series Elimination matches.
According to CageMatch.net, Orton has only worked 31 regular tag team matches at a PLE/PPV in his entire WWE career. He holds a 17-13-1 record. On the flip side, Owens has worked 21 regular tag team matches at a PLE/PPV in his WWE career. He holds a 7-14 record.
This week, @FightOwensFight is set to become the first Superstar in history to both parter with @RandyOrton in a 2-on-2 PPV/PLE match & also oppose @RandyOrton in a 2-on-2 PPV/PLE match. #Backlash
