AEW Took A Hit With Dynasty Gate

The AEW Dynasty gate and attendance numbers are in for the inaugural show.

The event was headlined by Swerve Strickland winning the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe. A classic also took place, pitting Bryan Danielson against Will Ospreay. The event took place this past Sunday night at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.

The co-headliner featured the return of Jack Perry as he made his return from hiatus to help The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) win the AEW Tag Team Titles in a ladder match against FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).

Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling (via Pollstar) noted that the event had a live gate of $401,373 and 6,287 tickets sold, making it the lowest gate for an AEW pay-per-view that he is aware of.

Although these were not the numbers the promotion would like to see, they have momentum coming out of Dynamite with the closing angle of The Elite attacking Tony Khan and will look to build on it. AEW returns to pay-per-view next month with its Double or Nothing pay-per-view events.
