WWE stars LA Knight, Sami Zayn, and AJ Styles appeared on The Ringer Wrestling Show to talk about WrestleMania weekend. The interviews were conducted before the Styles-Knight fight at the media junket.
AJ Styles talking about LA Knight:
“Not many people have gone through the same career that I have had other than LA night. He’s been to TNA. He’s been to NWA. I think the only place he’s never really been is Japan. I’m sure he had a match or two there, but he’s never worked there in New Japan. So this guy, it took him a while to get to the WWE and almost did not have his opportunity. It was almost taken away from him to the point where I don’t know if he remembers this, but I could tell it was really bothering him when he was trying to recruit some male models and stuff like that. I said, ‘Hey, man, be patient. It’s gonna come. Just hang in there’, and sure enough, it did. It blew up. I can’t even go anywhere without somebody saying, ‘Yeah.’”
Thoughts on CM Punk’s recent comments on AEW:
“Some over in AEW are my best friends. I love them and trust them. I was expecting a problem when he came here and I was wrong. I can’t wait until his tricep is ready to rock so we can tear the house down.”
On how much longer he will be wrestling:
“I’m getting to that point where I am worried about embarrassing myself. My brain says, ‘We can do this’ and my body’s like, ‘You’re stupid. We cannot do this. We’re hurting every day when we roll out of bed.’ At some point, this has to come to an end. I’ve realized like so many others that have come before me, the greats, they get out of it when we think they’re still time for them and it’s because we don’t want to embarrass ourselves. So we’re just trying to get out while we still can where we can still get around and just have fun away from wrestling. I love it. This is what I do. This is what I know. I spent more than half my life doing this, but at some point, you gotta let go because it’s fun, but I don’t want to disappoint you. When you see AJ Styles, I want you to go, ‘That’s my guy’, rather than go, ‘He just isn’t the same guy. He can’t do what he used to do.’ I don’t want to be that guy to you. I don’t want to let you down. So my time is coming. It’s getting short, but I am going to enjoy it. I promise you that.”
