AEW Star No Longer Under Contract Says “Never Say Never” About Returning To WWE At WrestleMania 40

With just a few days left until WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, there’s a lot of speculation online about who might be showing up. There’s been talk about some major names showing up for a one-off appearance and a possible full-time returns to the company.

One of the names in the news in recent weeks is former WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy. During his interview on Chris Van Vliet’s “INSIGHT” YouTube/podcast, Hardy was asked about the possibility of him returning to WWE in Philadelphia. Matt and Jeff Hardy returned to WWE 7 years ago at WrestleMania 33 to one of the loudest pops ever and the question was asked if we could see that again.

Matt said, “It’s great that people think that. That makes me happy. It makes people excited. If you hear someone talk about a ladder match, are they gonna show up? That’s great. I don’t know. It’s pro wrestling and in pro wrestling, never say never.”

Hardy’s AEW deal expired in March and he’s said on his podcast that there have been talks and he has a deal in his hands but he is evaluating things.

Jeff Hardy is said to have more time left on his deal so unless something has changed recently, it doesn’t look like he would be free to return to WWE right now. With that being said, there is a Six-Pack Ladder Match scheduled for WrestleMania and Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio reported that one of the teams (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) could be pulled out of the match. If that happens, then there will be a spot open for a potential surprise.
