Big E On His WWE Future: It’s About Deciding If The Gamble Is Worth It

Fans are still wondering whether they could see Big E back in the ring.

Injury

Big E spoke about his future as an active in-ring performer after he suffered a neck injury on the March 11, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown when taking an overhead belly-to-belly suplex at ringside from Ridge Holland.

He landed on his neck and fractured his C1 vertebra and C6 vertebra. Since then, he has been working for WWE in various roles, whether as a talent scout, recruiter, media appearances, and more.

Decision

Big E told Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports that the great thing is they’ve put him in control of his future as he’s listening to doctors, but he’s able to live his day-to-day life and be in the gym without any compromise. However, getting in the ring and taking bumps is different.

“Now at 38, those are considerations of mine. I want to make sure that I’m making the best decision for myself and for my health moving forward. It’s just one of those things I want to be smart about. It’s just a matter of listening to the doctors, taking in enough information, looking at my more recent set of scans and deciding if the gamble is worth it.”

Big E noted that he had talked with Steve Austin and Adam Copeland, who have dealt with neck injuries, about their experience.
