John Cena previously admitted he knows he doesn’t have much time left and put over stars such as Austin Theory and Solo Sikoa in his most recent WWE runs.
Retirement
However, that doesn’t mean he will retire anytime soon. The 46-year-old may be back in a WWE ring soon as the company could get Cena for this year’s WrestleMania, which is something he continues to tease.
In a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson, the former WWE Champion noted that his hard line in the sand is 50-years-old for his in-ring retirement:
“50 is my absolute line in the sand. I would like to try and do it before that, but at 50, I’m just gonna tweet out, ‘Peace out, see ya.’ That’s it, I’m good. I was very much driven where WWE was my passion 24/7 and I’m very grateful. I’ve grown and there’s a lot of other avenues I’m curious about in life, being a great husband and partner is one of those. I just want to try do what I can in those [years].”
Responsibility
Cena was also asked whether he feels pressure with the responsibility of being in the spotlight.
“I think the responsibility is I try really hard every day not to be entitled and remain curious and remain excited and grateful. You are our last stop on an incredibly ambitious press tour for Ricky Stanicky and everyone who sees me in the hallway is on man you okay man this press stuff. I love doing this. I love speaking with you, and every single opportunity I realize exactly how lucky I am and I never forget that. And if by my actions it kind of leaves an impression on people watching, listening, or aspiring, that’s a plus, but I’ve just tried to be accountable for myself and be grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given every day.”
