James Gunn’s “Peacemaker” Season Two Featuring John Cena Moving Forward

John Cena’s role as Peacemaker won over the fans when they watched “The Suicide Squad” movie in 2021, and he later received his own “Peacemaker” spinoff series on the MAX streaming service. The character is a superhero who loves peace so much that he is willing to kill anyone, including innocents, for it.

It premiered in 2022 and was quickly renewed for a second season. It was written and directed by James Gunn. At the time, the season finale broke MAX’s record for the biggest single-day release for an HBO Max Original series ever.

Actor Jennifer Holland recently stated the series would begin filming this summer, something confirmed by Gunn, who is now the co-head of DC Studios. Plans have changed as the series will be filming at the same time as his new Superman film, which began production on February 29th.

Originally, Peacemaker was going to be filmed after the upcoming Superman project was complete. The series explored Peacemaker’s background while trying to stop an alien invasion.
