AEW Was Planning The Young Bucks And Kazuchika Okada Segment For Months

AEW did a big angle on Wednesday’s Dynamite, where The Young Bucks announced that Hangman Adam Page had been suspended for attacking the referee during his match at AEW Revolution as he was taking time off for a personal issue.

When they mentioned Kenny Omega, Eddie Kingston came out, and a brawl broke out. Former NJPW IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada came out to align with them and attacked Kingston before making the title belt gesture around his waist, setting up a future match.

They announced Okada would be joining The Elite as they all shook hands. When Omega is medically cleared from diverticulitis, it appears he will wrestle Omega as well. Okada had interest from WWE but opted for AEW.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted the segment had been planned for months.

“It’s like that one, the Young Bucks segment with Okada that has been known not by me, but it’s been known by the Young Bucks and Okada and Tony Khan, for literally months. It was Tony Khan’s idea to do this a long time ago. You know, like it was the show after Revolution,” Meltzer stated.
