Newsnation recently interviewed Cara Pipia, who is described as the best friend of late WWE star Ashley Massaro.
Pipia talked about the claims made in the 2019 affidavit that was made public in 2019 that claims that WWE executives covered up Massaro being raped on a military base in 2006.
WWE claimed at the time of the affidavit that they knew nothing about what was being alleged:
“At no time was Vince McMahon or the management of WWE ever informed by Ashley Massaro or anybody else that she had been sexually assaulted, drugged, raped or sodomized by a military doctor with a nurse standing guard while on a goodwill tour in 2007 to U.S. military bases in Kuwait. In fact, if she ever articulated such a claim to WWE, we would have reported it immediately to the Base Commander.
At no time was there ever a meeting with Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, John Laurinaitis or other company executives in which she told them of such a claim and was instructed to keep it quiet.”
On Newsnation, Pipia stated that after the alleged rape occurred, Massaro was called to a boardroom meeting with company executives and she was told that what happened to her had to “stay under wraps.” Pipia says that Vince and Stephanie McMahon were present at that meeting. Pipia said, “She walked into the boardroom. She was threatened, there was no compassion, no sympathy. Nothing.”
Pipia also stated that the locker room doctor was sympathetic but he didn’t have the pull to do anything. She also stated that Massaro was left in Kuwait and that there were phone calls between Massaro and the company after the rape occurred.
