WWE appears to be teasing a heel turn for a beloved Raw Superstar.
Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Sami Zayn took on Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event. Michael Cole noted that Sami Zayn needed a win to turn things around because he hasn’t been able to win matches lately. Cole made sure to point out that Nakamura “handed Zayn another loss” because of the assist from Drew McIntyre.
Zayn also lost to Randy Orton on Friday Night SmackDown in a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber match happening in less than two weeks in Perth, Australia. After that match, the camera focused on Zayn looking upset about the loss.
Earlier in tonight’s WWE Raw show, they showed Jackie Redmond interviewed Zayn earlier today in the empty building. Nakamura said that Zayn was trying to swindle people by trying to get sympathy and stay in the spotlight.
Tonight, there was a post-match attack on Zayn from McIntyre and Nakamura and Cody Rhodes ran out to make the save for his friend. Under Vince McMahon’s creative regime, these teases typically would lead to a turn but it’s not 100 percent clear if that’s what is intended here by Triple H. Whatever is happening with Zayn, it appears that something is about to change with his character as he continues to lose matches. He has not won a match in 2024.
