Sting is just a few weeks away from retiring from the world of pro wrestling but is now holding gold before he hangs up his boots.
The legendary pro wrestler will have his retirement match next month at the Revolution pay-per-view event. As previously noted, Sting had a major part in the decision for him to wrestle The Young Bucks at the upcoming show.
On Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, in the main event, Sting teamed with Darby Allin to beat Ricky Starks and Big Bill to win the Tag Team Titles.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Sting was adamantly against winning the AEW Tag Team Titles for a long time. He was also against competing for them, but some people in AEW said that from their point of view, Sting and Allin being undefeated, they should get a title shot.
Fightful was told, “the decision was made well in advance for Sting and Allin to win the tag team titles, and Sting went along with it. Those we spoke to said he was all smiles after the match backstage.”
The planned Revolution location was also changed from the midwest to Greensboro to fit Sting’s send-off.
