ECW Legend Bill Alfonso Says His Name Came Up In AEW Production Meetings

Legendary referee/ECW legend Bill Alfonso appeared as a guest on Rob Van Dam’s podcast this week.

Alfonso talked about the possibility of working for AEW and he said that he was told that his name came up in production meetings.

“I was on a show about four or five months ago,” Alfonso said. “A guy came up to me. His name was QT Marshall and he worked for Tony Khan. He was like in the office. He said, ‘Hey, my name is QT Marshall. Your name came up in a production meeting.’ I said, ‘Oh, great. What do I do?’ He said, ‘Just hold on’ so I held on. I saw him like two or three months later, he said, ‘Hey Fonzi. Your name came up again in another production meeting.’ That’s two times. So if you want to drop my name and Tony Khan and see what’s going on, I don’t mind.”

RVD on his match with Swerve Strickland:

“I really liked working with him and I really enjoyed the match. I had a little extra time because they booked it and then they pushed it back a week which changed the location from Savannah to New Orleans, but they had this match in mind that they were wanting to bring me in for. I looked up Swerve on YouTube. I looked at it for a minute and I just knew like, I dig this guy’s vibe and we’re gonna have a fu**ing kick ass match. I understood the assignment. I came in to punish him hardcore style. I thought it went all really well. I haven’t watched it yet. I’ve seen the highlights but someone earlier told me that the end got cut off on the overrun. I saw Tony had put a tweet out. This was when I was leaving the building or something. It was that night. It was at the moment, you know, real time. I remember seeing that he put something out about, ‘Hey everyone. Thanks TNT for giving us the overrun.’ It sounded positive and then all the fans were complaining, ‘I hate it when you do this every time’, and I didn’t understand why. I thought TBS always goes from, you know, like 8:05 to 10:05 or whatever.”
