WWE files trademark for the ring name of SmackDown star

WWE has filed for a new trademark, this time covering the ring name of one of their highly touted prospects.

The trademark

The company filed for “Dragon Lee” on January 10 under the entertainment services classification with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:

“Mark For: DRAGON LEE™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media, including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

His arrival

It should be noted that this past November, Lee, real name Emmanuel Muaztoz Gonzailez, has locked down his ring name for entertainment and merchandise purposes. The WWE wrestler had attorney Michael Dockins file the trademark.

Lee was a big signing for WWE as the company has high hopes for him, and thus far, he has delivered. In 2022, he signed with WWE with the belief he would be fast-tracked to the main roster, which later happened after a brief NXT run, and he was added to SmackDown.

WWE feels he could be the next great Mexican star, such as Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. Lee has worked some NXT matches as of late, including dropping the NXT North American Title to Oba Femi this past Tuesday.
