AEW President Tony Khan has publicly talked about being active in free agency this year and looking to give a boost to the women’s division. One notable free agent could just be what he’s looking for.
Her journey
Deonna Purrazzo signed with WWE in 2018 and worked for the company for two years before being let go in April 2020. She later joined Impact Wrestling. Purrazzo has found a lot of success in several promotions, as she has held the Impact Wrestling Knockouts, AAA Reina De Reinas, and ROH Women’s Titles.
Purrazzo’s contract with TNA Wrestling expired at the start of the year and she is free and clear to talk with other promotions.
The future
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that multiple companies had already expressed interest in her. Numerous sources indicated there have been some internal discussions in AEW with Purrazzo, and they’re hopeful they can land her.
It was also said that AEW was her preferred landing spot when finishing up with TNA.
She has had contact with WWE, but sources in the company indicated “most if not all of their free agent discussions had been tabled until the new year started.”
