The former WWE Champion being teased for Raw might not be Andrade

Tonight’s WWE Raw will be a big show as it features the Day 1 theme from the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, CA. The company hopes to draw solid ratings against the college football semi-finals on ESPN, which is expected to hurt the show.

The show

WWE has stacked it up with several title bouts and the teaser of a former WWE Champion appearing, which has been expected to be Andrade.

Heading into Saturday’s AEW World End pay-per-view event, there were several reports that the show would mark the final appearance for Andrade, who put over Miro at the show. While speaking to the media after the event, AEW President Tony Khan addressed Andrade’s departure. For more on that, click here.

The report

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select was the first to report that the company was closed to nailing down an appearance from a former WWE Champion, something Triple H then took to Twitter to “stay tuned.”

It’s not been confirmed regarding the baseline or qualifications of “WWE Champion,” although it’s not believed to be something like a former Hardcore Champion.

The report noted that “no talent or creative sources that we’ve spoken to know who will be revealed as the person. As of early afternoon, the person was designated a full segment mid-show.”

They were also told it wouldn’t be Mercedes Mone, who had recent talks fell through with the company. It should be noted that The Rock was in Pasadena for College Gameday, which just so happens to be a few hours from the site of Raw.

The Rock’s last WWE appearance on SmackDown last year was also a situation where he was in town for College Gameday.
