REPORT: CM Punk Confronted Tony Khan Backstage in a ‘Heated, Intense Manner’

There are even more details coming out about what happened backstage at AEW All In on Sunday night and according to the latest report, the relationship between CM Punk and Tony Khan may be beyond repair.

Wade Keller at PWTorch.com reports that when Perry made the “real glass” and “cry me a river” comments during the live pay-per-view, Punk was said to have been already upset about not being picked up at the airport by anyone with AEW and Punk didn’t know at the time that no one was picked up at the airport, so he wasn’t being singled out by people in the company.

Punk reportedly confronted Tony Khan in front of other people in his locker room and it was said to have been in a “heated, intense manner.” Punk reportedly told Khan and then “chewed out Khan with harsh phrasing.”

As was reported earlier in several places, including today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Punk almost didn’t go out for his match with Samoa Joe. Bryan Alvarez said today that Samoa Joe was furious about the situation and he had to convince Punk to go out to the ring. Keller stated that it didn’t take long for Punk to agree and continue with the match as planned. After the match, there was said to have been an extended period of time without communication between Punk and Khan.

Punk and Perry are reportedly suspended. Nick Hausman reported that Punk was informed of this through his lawyer. For what it’s worth, Punk seemed to be saying “goodbye” while in the ring just after his match with Joe. Keller stated that people in the company are speculating whether Punk is looking to remove himself from AEW.

Unless the suspension is lifted before the weekend, which seems unlikely, it looks like Punk and Perry won’t be wrestling at All Out in Chicago and it puts the company in a weird spot since a very large portion of the fans are there to see Punk.

Keller also noted that Punk was fined for previous incidents. PWInsider reported that the belief within the company is that Punk was fined in the “five figure range” for his off-air comments about Hangman Adam Page after Collision.
