Interesting Stat About CM Punk’s AEW Run

It’s been just over two years since CM Punk arrived in AEW on the August 20, 2021, episode of AEW Rampage, where he has gone on to be booked as its biggest despite the backstage drama that comes along with him and those having an issue with him.

He has become a big draw for the company in all major business metrics, including TV ratings, PPV buys, merchandise and ticket sales.

Punk’s backstage issues have included a brawl with The Elite, a physical altercation with Jack Perry, ripping countless wrestlers at the All Out 2023 post-event press conference, and influence on who is allowed backstage at Collision shows.

Thus far, Punk has worked 33 matches in AEW and has been a World Champion in the promotion 2022. Despite being the top champion twice, he has yet to record a successful defense in either reign.

Since returning to AEW TV, Punk proclaimed himself the “Real” AEW World Champion. Although it’s been reported to be the case, Punk has yet to be informed of his AEW suspension following the incident with Perry.

Reddit user Grimtreeper shared on the SquaredCircle subreddit how much of Punk’s run has been held up by either suspensions or injuries.

Per this person, Punk has only been active on AEW’s roster for 385 of his 739 days with the promotion, just barely 50%.
