There have been many main roster stars sent to WWE NXT to help them work with younger talent, boost TV ratings, or be repackaged.
This includes Los Lotharios (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo), as the company hadn’t been doing anything with them until recently.
Angel and Humberto started teaming together on Raw in September 2021. As part of the 2021 Draft, they were drafted to the SmackDown brand before the team was named Los Lotharios. Before their return to NXT, they had only worked three main roster matches this year.
In June, they attacked Scrypts and Axiom after their win over Dabba Kato in a 2-vs-1 handicap match on an episode of NXT. Since then, they have been doing vignettes by using their grandfather with the idea that he was a big superstar.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported, “Carrillo & Garza right now are in NXT but there is a long-term main roster idea for them as a babyface tag team.”
Once WWE feels ready to return to the main roster, they will be used as authentic Mexican babyfaces.
