Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie That Features John Cena Had Sold Opening Weekend Against Strong Competition

The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” movie had its opening weekend at movie theaters across the United States.

John Cena is among the list of the star-studded cast as he plays Rocksteady in the CGI-animated movie. As previously reported, there is already a sequel in the works.

Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Jackie Chan as Splinter, Ice Cube as Superfly, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Brady Noon as Raphael, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom make up the rest of the cast.

The movie was directed by Jeff Rowe with co-director Kyler Spears and written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg & Jeff Rowe. It was produced by Rogan, Goldberg, James Weaver, Ramsay McBean, and Josh Fagen.

BoxOfficeMojo reports the movie did $28 million at the box office in its opening weekend (August 4th-6th) across 3,858 theaters. The movie has done $43,073,468 in the US with $8.5 million internationally for a total of $51.5 million worldwide.

It ranked #4 at the box office. It was behind strong competition with Barbie, which did $53 million, Meg 2: The Trench with $30 million, and Oppenheimer with $28.7 million over the weekend.
