WWE Has a High Interest in Top Free Agent

WWE hasn’t made a big splash in signing notable free agents in several months, but that could be changing in the near future.

Nick Aldis was reportedly a casualty of a hiring freeze in WWE earlier this year as Vince McMahon was looking to close the acquisition of WWE from the Endeavor Group with the idea to merge WWE into a new company with the UFC.

Instead of going to WWE, Aldis returned to Impact Wrestling after leaving the NWA this past April at Rebellion, where he had been chasing the Impact World Title.

Aldis lost to Impact World Champion Alex Shelley at the Slammiversary pay-per-view event over the weekend. He worked with Young at Sunday’s TV tapings in a match with Eric Young that will air this Thursday, which will finish him up with the promotion.

Pwinsider Elite reported today that several WWE sources have told them there is high interest in Aldis now that he’s free and clear. His name has been discussed internally as a potential Producer in recent weeks.

Aldis has yet to comment on his Impact Wrestling departure publicly.
