Brian Pillman Jr. No Longer on AEW Roster

It looks like another AEW star might have finished up with the company.

Pillman Jr. was recently removed from the AEW roster on the company website. It’s not confirmed by the company that he’s gone, but typically when someone is removed from the roster, it’s a signal that they are no longer with the company.

Pillman Jr. signed with the company 3 years ago and while he did wrestle occasionally on Dynamite, he was mostly featured on Dark and Dark: Elevation. His highest-profile feud on TV was in 2021 against MJF. Pillman had expressed frustration over the way he and Griff Garrison were used and he wasn’t thrilled with Julia Hart being taken out of the Varsity Blonds group.

Pillman Jr. said the following on Renee Dupree’s podcast last year:

“I mean, its pretty plain as day what happened, you know what I mean,” Pillman said. “As soon as we lost her, we kind of lost our edge and our spark that made us a good group, a babyface group that could have got over, you know. A lot of what we were going to do with some different spots with her had a lot to do with her cheerleading background and playing to her strengths. But somebody came in and decided that they would do better with their group and then that’s just how it goes, you know. I definitely wasn’t happy with it to be quite honest, but it is what it is. It’s not my show. It’s business but I thought maybe that probably what really stopped us from really seeing the true potential The Varsity Blondes was we lost her before we even got going.”
