Omos on Brock Lesnar: “I Don’t Think He Gets the Credit He Deserves”

Brock Lesnar vs. Omos took place at WWE WrestleMania 39 on Night 2 from LA, a match that was heavily criticized at the time due to Omos’ lack of experience and Lesnar being one of WWE’s biggest stars.

Prior to the bout, it was reported that the match was an idea of Vince McMahon as he is high on Omos. Lesnar’s WrestleMania plans were changed as he had been pitched at one point as an opponent for Steve Austin, who turned down several names to wrestle at the show because of his schedule as he was filming his A&E show at the time.

Lesnar went over in the quick match. While speaking with The Daily Mail, Omos opened up about working with Lesnar.

“I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves,’ Omos says, referring to Lesnar. ‘He’s such an amazing and talented worker. He has figured out this business to the core. From his facial expressions, to his physicality, to his selling. He gets it. Most importantly he understands his role depending on where he’s put. He has such awareness and that’s the person he is.”

Omos noted that Lesnar wanted to make him feel comfortable and recalled Lesnar telling him not to worry about the bout.

‘For him, he wanted to see whether I could live up to expectations. Everything in life is a test and I knew I had to go out there and put everything I have learned into that match and I’m glad it came out the way it did. Brock is amazing. He was pleased after. I wanted to make sure he had fun. That’s always my goal. When it’s fun, you want to keep on doing it.’

Omos noted that he found out about the match the night after Elimination Chamber and thought it was a rib at first. He was told backstage, a moment that made him briefly space out in disbelief.
