Seth Rollins, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, Johnny Gargano, Natalya, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Dana Brooke, and other main roster stars to go to NXT to work with the younger talent, an idea by WWE CEO Nick Khan to help boost NXT ratings.
A few weeks ago, Corbin returned to NXT, where he feuded with NXT champion Carmelo Hayes leading to him losing in the title bout. Before he did, he brought back his Lone Wolf character.
On this week’s show, in a pre-taped interview, Corbin said last week sucked because he didn’t win the NXT Championship, and now he’s embarrassed. He said he has it all but the reputation he wants of respect and fear. He doesn’t want a manager or a new gimmick. He threw his Baron Corbin vest, Happy Corbin shirt, and his King of the Ring crown in the fireplace. He said there’s no more gimmicks, no-nonsense, and no bullsh*t.’
Usually, when a main roster star goes to NXT, they will return to the main roster after finishing up the NXT program.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that won’t be the case for Corbin as he’s staying in NXT for now.
“He’s a regular now in NXT, and there’s gonna be more people like that,” Meltzer stated.
