AEW Wrestler Fires Back at a Fan Criticizing a Spot in His Recent Match

Wrestling is not an easy thing to pull off and is subjective, with some fans liking a certain style or things done in matches while others have a different preference.

Dustin Rhodes, who has been in the wrestling business for decades, dealt with this while reacting to a tweet from one fan. On the July 1st episode of Dynamite,

Powerhouse Hobbs beat Rhodes in the quarter-final of the men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament match thanks to interference from QT Marshall interference. He kicked out of a spinebuster, one of Hobbs’ signature moves, at the count of one during the bout, something that rarely happens.

Rhodes reacted to a fan who had an issue with recent kickouts in AEW, including in Rhodes’ match, as they thought it caused “diminishing returns” compared to what Kenny Omega did when he kicked out of Will Ospreay’s finisher at Forbidden Door at one.

Rhodes responded with, “I suggest you sit down again and watch my match over. We do things at the right time for the pop. It’s electric when it happens. I kicked out cause I am a tough son of a bitch. Specifically “Your” opinion doesn’t matter.”

Hobbs will take on Ricky Starks in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Tournament. The other semi-final bout will see CM Punk face Samoa Joe. Both bouts will take place on Saturday’s Collision.
